A DAZZLING AND DELICIOUS LOY KRATHONG AT DHARA DHEVI CHIANG MAI
Loy Krathong is celebrated across the Kingdom of Thailand each year on the night of the full moon of the twelfth lunar month, but nowhere with more fervour and devotion than Chiang Mai.
CHIANG MAI – Here in the former capital of the Lanna Kingdom, Loi Krathong coincides with the northern Thai festival known as Yi Peng, a reference to the full moon day in the second month of the Lanna lunar calendar, which coincides with the twelfth month of the Thai lunar calendar. On this dazzling night, swarms of sky lanterns are launched into the air and Krathong made of banana leaves and flowers are released to float down the country’s waterways, signifying the letting go of misfortune and new beginnings.
Dhara Dhevi Chiang Mai has long hosted important occasions like Loy Krathong, arranging activities similar to those all over the north, but in a more elegant and intimate manner, and highlighted by an exceptional Northern Thai dining experience.
Guests will be treated to a private parade, complete with traditional Northern Thai-style costumes, a Krathong competition, and of course the release of Krathong in Dhara Dhevi Canal, which on this night of nights will be alight with lanterns and lamps.
