If you love craft beer, this is a good week to break the bank. Around the city there are launches, parties, and special brews on tap this week only. Budget accordingly.
Mikkeller’s Second Birthday Bash
Celebrate two years of cutting-edge craft beer at Mikkeller Bangkok all week through February 6. The bar is organizing a prolonged bash in honour of its anniversary with different tap events each day, featuring beer on draft from world-renowned AleSmith, Modern Times, and To Øl, to name a few. On February 6, expect lots of food, 200 free beers doled out from noon until 5pm, and the bar’s “craziest” tap list yet. Bring your running kicks on Saturday, too, and join the monthly Mikkeller run before the party gets underway.
La Chouffe Party at Craft
On February 4, Craft on Sukhumvit 23 is launching Belgian beer La Chouffe and La Chouffe Soleil for the first time. In honour of the occasion, the bar is offering 30 per cent off all La Chouffe pours, as well as special prices on La Chouffe bottles (starting at B150++), and serving up some pretzels with cheese sauce to pair with it all. Stick around for live music from The Black Cat Blues from 8pm-10pm.
AleSmith Launch at O’Glee and White Beer’d
On back to back nights, the team at Hopsession will make Bangkok beer drinkers very happy. On February 4, head to O’Glee in Ari, where the bar will be stocked with AleSmith brews for the first time. Flights are available for B300, including AleSmith’s IPA, Nut Brown, Lil’ Devil (a Belgian-style pale ale), and Old Numbskull (a barleywine). Each flight includes an entry to a lucky draw. Bottles are available for take-home purchase after 10.30pm.
The next night, February 5, head to White Beer’d at the CDC for the same event, but with different brews available in the flight—IPA, Speedway Stout, X Pale Ale, and Horny Devil (a high-gravity Belgian-style golden ale). Better yet, go to both.
Can’t get enough? On February 13, Hopsession takes over The Accidental Butcher, as the distributors introduce Nomad, a new craft beer hailing from Australia rocketing up the ratings charts. Expect a smooth-drinking saison, a limited edition red rye IPA (brewed in collaboration with Stone Brewing), and more. Pair it all with barbecue from the city’s top butches. There will be limited edition bottles at great prices and free samples, too.
