The votes are in and the region’s most celebrated chefs and renowned restaurateurs will be gathering at Capella Singapore on Monday, 9th March 2015 for the announcement of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.
Sponsored by S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list is an annual snapshot of the opinions and experiences of over 300 restaurant industry experts in Asia. What constitutes ’best’ is left to the judgment of these trusted and well-travelled gourmets. The results are a simple computation of votes. Given that this well-constructed list is based on personal experiences it can never be definitive, but the organizers believe it is an honourable survey of current tastes and a credible indicator of the best places to eat around the region.
Prior to the awards ceremony, a culinary summit titled ‘The New Modern: 2015 and Beyond’ will be held for members of the industry and the public on 8th March, 2015. Bringing together some of the world’s most influential chefs, it presents current culinary trends, big ideas in food and issues facing chefs, restaurateurs and discerning diners.
Members of the public and industry will also have the chance to learn from leading chefs during a series of masterclasses on 8th and 9th March at Singapore’s At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy. Participants include Bangkok’s Gaggan Anand (from Gaggan, No.3 on Asia’s 50 Best and No.17 on The World’s 50 Best 2014).
Anand will also be teaming up with the likes of Daniel Humm of Eleven Madison Park in New York, Virgilio Martinez of Central in Lima, and Singapore’s finest chefs and restaurants to host ‘four-hand’ collaborative Maestro Dinners over the same weekend.
In addition to the list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, individual awards are given in the following categories:
