Bangkok Roller Derby presents Thailand’s first ever roller derby event
On Saturday, September 30th, Bangkok Roller Derby will welcome over twenty professional skaters from across Asia to train together in a roller derby bootcamp at Roller Dome, Nawamin, led by professional roller derby player Courtney Stephens (aka “Loveless”) from the Okinawa Roller Derby team. The next day (October 1st), these players will take to the track and deliver two public scrimmages for audiences to watch and learn all about this amazing sport.
Roller derby is a points-based, team contact sport an 80+ year history. The game is played wearing four-wheeled “quad” style roller skates on a flat, oval track. Two teams battle it out skating around the track to score as many points as possible. Positions include jammers, who can score points, and blockers, who have to stop the other team from skating past and scoring those points. It’s fast, it’s furious, it’s fun, and it’s all played on roller skates!
Tickets are currently priced at B300 and include all equipment necessary to participate, an opportunity to meet with professional skaters, exclusive access to watch a training session, and free entrance to a real roller derby game.
