Gourmands take note… the Tastes of the World extravaganza is on now, but only for a limited time—so don’t let this food-fabulous opportunity pass you by!
The aim of this gastronomic showcase is to present and celebrate both Thai and European culinary culture. The event will also reveal secret techniques behind traditional and contemporary cuisines, with demonstrations and workshops by renowned local and international chefs. The Tastes of the World event is taking place at three separate venues in downtown Bangkok, each with a different overall theme. Tourists and locals alike are invited to come and experience the diversity of food options, and learn more about modern cooking innovations and traditional recipes.
Bangkok Vari is being held at CentralWorld, and celebrates the 234th anniversary of the establishment of the Rattanakosin Kingdom (and the founding of Bangkok as the Thai capital). The event celebrates Thai arts and culture, and includes a recreation of the traditional way of life found along the Chao Phraya River in days gone by. Learn some of the history and background of Bangkok’s riverside communities while enjoying plenty of snacking and shopping. Popular products of the different riverside communities, as well as 5-star OTOP products from around the country, will be available for sale at more than 200 shops. By recreating ancient Bangkok—also known as ‘The Venice of the East’—with an array of exhibitions, performances, shopping, and ancient recipes that harkens back to another era, visitors can let the sights, sounds, and atmosphere transport them to another time. This event runs until July 31, 2016.
Central Food Hall World Gastronomy is another not-to-be-missed event at CentralWorld. It showcases European delicacies, with exclusive culinary workshop charity events from Thailand’s celebrity chefs. Imported premium food products in the Eden Zone 1 highlight more than 1,000 unrivaled products from over 30 countries worldwide, while culinary workshops will be taking place over in the Eden Zone 2. The workshops here feature various instructional sessions from famous chefs such as Thailand’s own Ian Kittichai from Issaya Siamese Restaurant, Henk Savelberg from Savelberg, Nick from the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, Michael Hogan from Marriott Queen’s Park Hotel, Joan Tanya Dot from Uno Mas, and Gianni Favro from Gianni Restaurant. This event runs only from July 19 to 24, 2016.
Eathai Expansion is the third portion of this culinary extravaganza, and takes place on the Lower Ground floor of Central Embassy. It will be comprised of 13 zones, each offering delicious fresh dishes prepared and provided by Bangkok’s top restaurants. The restaurants will be replaced every two weeks to ensure that foodies can always find something new. Special vouchers for Renaissance Bangkok’s brunch, Plaza Athenee Bangkok’s lunch buffet, and promotions at all F&B outlets at Hotel Muse will be offered as well, along with entertainment and activities such as comedic shows, a Phi Ta Khon showcase, and Thai floral garland making. This event runs from July 21 to August 7, 2016.
The Tastes of the World event is expected to become one of Thailand’s most anticipated annual festivals in years to come, so don’t miss it!
