Chow Café and Bar, located within the elegant surroundings of the Metropole Hotel, is shaking up Thong Lor’s hang-out and dining scene. This progressive “bistrotheque” is the magic pill Bangkokians have been waiting for, offering a catch-all answer to urban needs—a place to eat almost 24/7, chill, watch movies, take in art, sip cocktails, and see and be seen. The food is Asian inspired with Californian influences. Highlights include pastrami egg rolls, apple som tum, squid and chips with homemade dip, beef and kimchi quesadilla, and even “potstickers” (Californian style gyoza). There’s also Chow’s signature patongko: Chinese doughnut bruschetta served with fresh mango slices and delicious homemade lemon cheese cake.
The menu here, as well as suave cocktails served by chic Parisian mixologists, speaks to the truly “metropolitan” city dweller. Complementing all this is progressive house music spun by Bangkok’s hottest DJs, brick walls draped with nouveau Thai art, weekly screenings of Hollywood classics, and leather sofas filled with everything from models and movie stars, to app makers and entrepreneurs. There’s no end to what one can chow down on at Chow café & bar. To make a reservation please call 083 601 0009.
