River City Bangkok in collaboration with Elephant Parade present “ELEPHANT PARADE BY THE RIVER” from August 10th to September 3rd, 2017. The exhibition sees a herd of 33 brightly coloured elephants – which have been decorated and hand painted by artists and celebrities – exhibited throughout the shopping mall. These elephants are for sale with a portion of the proceeds going to Elephant Family to help elephants.
What’s more, one of the elephants named “Nong Nam” (meaning “water” in Thai) was hand painted at the opening reception on August 10th at RCB Artery, by Namfon Patcharin, a famous Thai actress, in line with the “Women’s Journey Thailand” campaign of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to promote a wide range of activities for women travellers from around the world.
Since the parade started in 2006, various artists have participated and over 1,000 elephants have been created; each an original piece of art. Famous international supporters of Elephant Parade include: Sir Richard Branson, the Duchess of York, Evelyn de Rothschild, Goldie Hawn, Khloe Kardashian, Katy Perry, Tommy Hilfiger, Paul Smith, Joanna Lumley, Michael Palin, Ricky Gervais, and Prince Henrik of Denmark.
