Thailand continues its rise in Asia’s dining scene. Over the weekend, at the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurantsawards in Singapore, five restaurants were honoured. Foremost among them was Gaggan, which secured the number one spot, earning it the coveted dual titles of The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Asia and The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Thailand.

ChefGaggan Anand opened his eponymous Bangkok restaurant in 2010 with a vision to reinvigorate Indian cuisine by incorporating modern cooking techniques. His passion, energy, and creativity are evident in every aspect of the dining experience, from the colonial-style setting to the molecular twists added to traditional Indian dishes. William Drew, Group Editor of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, said, “These awards echo the palpable excitement felt across the restaurant scene in Asia over the last year. Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants aims to celebrate success, reward innovation and hard work, and provide diners with guidance on the greatest places to eat across the continent. Congratulations to Gaggan Anand on his and his team’s remarkable achievement, which is a reflection of this chef’s singular imagination, energy, and skill. All 50 restaurants on the list, however, are deserving of great recognition, along with the individual award-winners.”
