On the back of the release of their new album Love Me/Love Me Not and the Asia tour which followed, British pop duo Honne has won JOOX Thailand International Artist of the year.
The awards ceremony which was held Tuesday brought Honne duo James Hatcher and Andy Clutterbuck back to the Kingdom following their recent performance at the Thunder Dome in February. Honne were one of five contestants including Drake, Ariana Grande, Alan Walker and Dua Lipa all in the line-up for International Artist of the Year 2019. However, Asia’s favourite pop duo came out on top, as stylishly as ever this week.
The win comes on the back of their Asia tour and stellar performance at the Thunder Dome which saw the pair warm up the crowd with Anna of the North, and later even welcomed local rising indie star Phum Viphurit to play alongside them for the crowd favourite song Warm on a Cold Night. Phum was also a candidate for Indie Song of the Year.
Since early 2015, Honne has made waves in Asia and can be heard across the continent from cafes in Seoul to barbershops in Bangkok.
Honne’s name alongside the name of their recording studio Tatame, are both Japanese words which describe the two sides and contrast of our personality: Honne, the side we keep to ourselves and Tatame, the side we show to the world.
