W Bangkok

Introducing ‘lift-off’ of moon cake selection featuring original flavours plus “W Moonkit” gift box design.

W Bangkok announces its 2019 house-made mooncake ‘W Moonkit’ in celebration of this mid-autumn festival. Again, this year the hotel continues to keep it traditional with a twist by offering sleek and minimal-looking mooncakes in playful packaging.

This selection of house-original mooncake creations is the work of Pastry Chef Somjit Saengkaew and his team, who add a twist to these traditional confections by blending premium main ingredients with trendy dessert flavours.

The sweet lineup includes Raspberry; Green Garden (exclusive TWG Tea blend for W Bangkok only); Mocha Macadamia; Black Sesame Cheesecake; Banoffee (banana and toffee) and the timeless favorite Durian Delight. All flavours are available with either traditional-style crust or mochi—the chewy Japanese-style ‘dough’ dessert). And raising this year’s mooncake wow-factor to astronomical new heights is the space-themed ‘W Moonkit’ gift box design with eye-catching holographic effect, making the hockey puck-shaped treats for personal or corporate gift-giving.

Available for limited time only from 1 August to 13 September 2019, Pagoda Chinese Restaurant at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park celebrates the ancient Chinese tradition of Mid-Autumn Festival with six creations of mooncakes made from premium ingredients by experienced chefs.

This year’s Signature Longevity flavour combines Chinese herbs for health benefits. A Chinese medicine expert picked a selection of herbs with five highlights for the chefs to create sensational mooncakes including caterpillar fungus, American ginseng, red ginseng, saffron and dendrobium. These herbs help to nourish the brain, immunity enhancing properties, stimulate blood circulation. They also help to reduce cholesterol and anti-aging. Another popular filling – lotus seed, watermelon seed and egg yolk – delights with nutty palate and slight saltiness of the egg yolk, combined with the delicate taste of crunchy watermelon seeds. The traditional and classic White Lotus Seeds and Macadamia Nuts mooncake consists of lotus seed and delectably nutty and crunchy macadamia, added as a contemporary twist. It is available at B228 per piece, or B988 per box (four pieces).

A popular Singaporean choice, Pork Bak – Kwa and Assorted Nuts combines sweet and sticky cured pork with crunchy mixed nuts. The St. Regis Bangkok

Crafted limited edition mooncakes for Mid-Autumn Festival 2019

To mark the turning of the season, and to celebrate thanksgiving, family reunion, and togetherness, the hotel has released handcrafted mooncakes in four remastered flavours: creamy durian; sweet and silky lotus seed; fruity Chinese date; and a smooth yellow bean with coconut pandan.

The St. Regis Bangkok Mooncake

The meaningful exchange of mooncakes is reflected in the extraordinary design of the mooncake box. The colour of the circular, leatherette-covered box is inspired by the Pantone Color of the Year 2019 – Living Coral – a subtly vibrant hue which the colour experts interpret as “sociable and spirited”, a fitting description for the Mid-Autumn festivities.

Once the mooncakes have been consumed, the custom-made box can be transformed into an exquisite picture frame to display on a shelf or wall.

The St. Regis Bangkok Mooncake 2019 early-bird offers 20% discount (normal price B1,288) per box of four mooncakes available for pre-paid orders placed before August 15 2019. Complimentary delivery is offered for minimum orders of 100 boxes to addresses within Bangkok Metropolitan Region.

The St. Regis Bangkok Mooncakes 2019 are priced at B1,288 per box of four handcrafted mooncakes. They are available for purchase in person at The Lounge on level 1 of the hotel from July 16 to September 13 2019.
