Hg80, a newly opened cocktail bar near Chong Nonsi BTS, is helmed by industry veteran Tron Young. The cocktail bar opened last month with a sleek, sophisticated look paired with cheeky, fun cocktails and even more fun hospitality. But all of that is about to change… December is Bangkok’s first introduction to Hg80’s ever-changing concept. Welcome to Hg80’s “Winter Wonderland.”
“It has been a tough year and we wanted to end it in a colourful, humorous and fun way for everyone,” said bartender and co-founder Tron Young. “Nothing screams colourful, humorous and fun like Christmas. So we’re bringing an over-the-top festive experience to the people of Bangkok. Giving everyone a little escape from their daily repetition and a unique experience to celebrate the end of the year.”

Winter Wonderland at Hg80
Upon entering Hg80’s Winter Wonderland, guests will be immersed in all of the festive season’s cheesiest but most humorous experiences. Over-the-top decorations, sing-a-long festive music by your favourite pop stars, visuals of a crackling fireplace, Christmas appropriate fragrance of frankincense and the air-conditioning tune to the setting of “Frosty the Snowman cold.” Hg80’s Winter Wonderland has your sight, sound, smell and feels covered. But now, it is all about the taste…
The highlight of the Winter Wonderland experience is definitely the cocktails. A festive menu of six cocktails to bring back nostalgic memories via pop-culture references and to also challenge your tastebuds with innovative unique flavours. We recommend the Hogma-yay!, a cocktail inspired by the Scottish New Year’s celebration that Tron fondly remembers from growing up in Scotland. It all starts with Rudolf red apples cooked in cinnamon mixed with Scotch, lemon juice and topped with sugar loaded macaron and gummy bear.

“Baby, It’s Cold Outside” cocktail
The next cocktail to try would be one inspired by a classic Christmas turkey and cranberry dinner. A fat-washed smoked turkey breast bourbon and Cognac combination is mixed with Peychaud’s bitters to make a festive, innovative twist on a classic Sazerac. Smokey, strong and designed to keep you warm, which is why it is aptly named, Baby, It’s Cold Outside. Those looking for something more classic can indulge in a pure white cocktail named I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas. A mix of tequila, orange, lime and finished with a Thai coconut twist. Classic, fresh, sour and refreshing, bring a scarf.
Before you leave this Wonderland be sure to try The World’s Best Hot Chocolate. The name is not a joke, nor is it an exaggeration. A large scoop of passionfruit infused chocolate ganache is ceremonially melted over a gas stove with thick cream and milk. Of course, it is served piping hot with fluffy marshmallows. What makes it the world’s best? The generous shot of VSOP Cognac. A Cognac-free version is also available and comically named, Almost The World’s Best Hot Chocolate.

“The World’s Best Hot Chocolate”
The Winter Wonderland is available from Wednesday to Saturday from 7pm during the entire month of December. Reservations can be made via the bar’s Facebook or Instagram pages.
