The 4th edition of S.Pellegrino Young Chef international cooking competition commenced in early 2019. Now the wait is over as the short list of Regional Finalists has been announced!
A group of 135 semi-finalists from around the world was carefully selected by regional chef judges at ALMA International School of Italian Cuisine to go on a journey in the professional culinary world. They will continue to contest in the fourth edition of the world’s biggest talent search to be titled the only best young chef.
Out of over 2,000 candidates in 50 countries, these semi-finalists won by cooking outstanding signature dishes, and we congratulate them on this success. Two of them from Asia are from Hotel Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, Thailand: Dominique Salles, Chef de partie from Tables Grill with his South West France To Bangkok Duck; and Roberto Parentela Chef of Spasso with My Childhood Memory And Contemporary Vision Of Guinea Fowl dish.
The Regional Finals competition phase will soon follow in which a total of 12 local competitions will be organised around the world. The young chef semi-finalists will battle each other in the region. This will be their first experience of cooking their signature dish live under tight rules for a panel of independent top chef juries.
Stay tuned for the Grand Finale in June 2020! The new edition will feature three different awards: S.Pellegrino Award for Social Responsibility, voted by an internationally recognised voice on Sustainability in food, for the dish that will represent the principle of socially responsible practises; Acqua Panna Award, voted for by mentors representing 50 countries around the world, for the dish that will reflect the perfect connection between different cultures on the plate; and Fine Dining Lovers Food for Thought Award, voted for by the online Fine Dining Lovers community, for the young chefs that best represent their personal belief within their dish.
