Belgian Master Chef will be cooking in Thailand for the first time ever
Twin Chefs Thomas and Mathias Sühring, from the cutting-edge German restaurant Sühring in Bangkok, are excited to welcome Chef Gert de Mangeleer from the restaurant Hertog Jan in Bruges (Belgium). This exclusive six-hands dinner series, for three nights only—December 13th to the 15th—will mark Chef Gert’s first time cooking in Thailand.
In 2005 this acclaimed chef took over Hertog Jan—an institution in Europe, famed for its modern Belgian cuisine—with his culinary soulmate Joachim Boudens. Building on his experience working for top chefs in Belgium, Gert transformed the restaurant’s traditional kitchen into something more refreshing, even revolutionary. Focusing on the ways flavours, structures, and contrasts take shape, he makes sure that his dishes stimulate all the senses and carry his signature style. Hertog Jan was awarded its first Michelin star in 2006. The second followed in 2009 and the third in 2011.
Chefs Thomas and Mathias Sühring’s culinary journey began while spending their annual school summer breaks at their grandparent’s farm in Germany. At that time they got introduced to old-school cooking techniques like fermentation, pickling, smoking, drying, and curing—which are rooted in the German tradition. Since March 2016, Sühring restaurant has been showcasing the best of modern German fare, inspired by the twins’ childhood memories and family recipes—all elevated to the level of haute cuisine and combining the essence of traditional dishes with contemporary Central European influences.
Together these three chefs share the same passion for ingredients, and this highly anticipated six-hands collaboration dinner is priced at B7,900++ per person, with an optional wine pairing available for B2,900++.
