Voted by an international panel of almost 1,000 gastronomic experts, the 2016 list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurant was announced this morning (Bangkok time) at a ceremony in New York. And Bangkok 101 was there!
After being in the top three since 2013, the Italian restaurant Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy was voted the world’s best, followed by El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain in second place. New York’s Eleven Madison Park was named number 3, climbing up from its previous fifth place, while the Peruvian restaurant Central stayed at number 4. Four-time winner Noma, however, dropped to number 5 on this year’s list.
While Bangkok’s celebrated Gaggan restaurant was named Asia’s best in February this year, it ranked number 23 in the global ranking, which is still pretty impressive. Meanwhile, David Thompson’s illustrious Nahm restaurant made it to number 37. Congratulations to both!
